I translate the interview of the show, sorry if there are faults, I did it very quickly. I didn't translate each word for one reason: the voice translator is loud, I can't hear Sting, so I manage to do it well, it's a really hard work for me.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Presenter: Do you know each other? (He speak about Sting and Kristin Scott Thomas)
Sting: Oui, yes, we do.
Presenter: It is true that for 25 years, you have been inhabited by this music Elizabethan, and now you arrive at one moment of your life where you are not obliged to make calculations marketing, and to do what you like, it was the time to do it.
Sting: It is true, these songs exist in my head for a long time, 2 years ago I met a lutist with whom I learned these songs which are 400 years old, it is John Dowland which wrote them, very very beautiful songs. I find that they are of topicality, they speak about melancholy which is not necessary to confuse with the depression because they speak about the reflexion on sadness.
Frederic: Victor Hugo said that Melancholy is the happiness to be sad.
Sting: I agree with him.
Presenter: It is your guitarist Dominic Miller who offered a lute to you, 2 years ago. And it was at this time that the desire became reality.
Sting: it's true, my guitarist Dominic Miler bought this very beautiful lute, and inside this rose of the lute, there is a labyrinth, It is not normal thing, this labyrinth is a symbol for me, it is the mystery of this music, what attracts me there, and it's a beautiful thing.
Presenter: You recorded the album in your home in Tuscany.
Sting: Yes, I did, we've a lot of fun to do it!
Presenter: You found one of the best players of lute of the world which is called Edin Karamazov, who will come to join us in one moment. And you had met him a first time, in a circus in Hamburg, and it didn't occur very well.
Sting: He was playing in a trio, with 2 guitarists and he did percussions, they had played a part of Mozart, with milk bottles, they were very curious like percussions, which had impressed me much. I invited them to play for the birthday of my wife, I send a message in backstage which is saying “Sting, the rock star would be glad if you could play... and they said NON! We are serious musicians, we don't play for star. And then I met him 2 years ago, and the tables turned.
Presenter: Do you want to listen the music? Yes, is Edin karamzov there? He can join us to play in live with you an extract of this album. You have choose the label “Deutsche grammophon” very prestigious. The extract is “Come Again”.
Sting : “Come again sweet love...” I'm kidding I'm not going to put the lyrics, you must know them!LOL
Presenter: Sting in live for “Le grand Journal” with Edin Karamazov for an extract of this album of Elisabeth music.
Do you want to listen it Kristin?
Are you going to make a show?
Sting: Tomorrow night.
Presenter: In Paris? (I dream or he seems to doesn't know this information..aah the frenchies!!lol)
Sting: Yes, in Radio France. (We were there!!!!!!LOL)
Presenter: Do you except a tour? No?
Sting: Peut être (and he looks Edin with smile! So I don't think so!lol)
Frederic: Is this kind of music which influenced your songs like “Englishman in NY”?
Sting: You know John Dowland influenced the pop music as John Williams, The Beatles and myself, we have the same culture. So it's not surprising if you recognize the same things.
Presenter: Kristin Scott Thomas, Sting had accompanied, like all of us, a part of your life, what does represent to you as an Englishwoman?
Kristin: I don't know, I'm very glad... one more time you ask me to speak about someone, who are just here! That makes funny effect to see somebody who began with such “revolutionary” things, it's not perhaps the appropriate word...with his first music to come back to something more ancient, or more “deeply” ...I don't know how explain it! It's very personal, and very pleasant.
Arianne: Sting and Kristin did you seen “The Queen”?
Sting and Kristin: Yes!
Kristin: fantastic!
Arianne: What did you think about it?
Sting: I liked it, I actually like the royal family but I'm a republican in my heart, I would prefer a meritocracy like in France, but I like the royal family like most people. By the way, the movie presents them like normal people.
Arianne: Moreover, you've received a decoration from the Queen.
Sting: I'm the commander of the British Empire. (YES YOU ARE!!LOL), but the empire is very small now.
Frederic: it's why he's Elisabethan now! (Good Fred!lol)
Presenter: Thanks for your coming on the show for you new album.
