Filmography – Sting – Dune (1984)

Filmography – Sting – Dune (1984)
Set in a distant future where life in the universe and space travel is dependent upon a spice found only on the planet Dune, this film tracks the rise of young Paul Atreides, son of good Duke Lito, from the time of his father's betrayal and murder by a rival lord, Baron Harkonnen, to his discovery of the great secret behind the planet Dune and his own destiny, which is to free the planet and its denizens of the cruel rule of the Emperor.

Sting's bright blondeness and bizarre clothing don't match the dark ringlets and tunic-leotard look described in his book. Sting in the first scene is indeed sullen. But later on he gets to be too insanely pain-hungry, which is the same mistake they made with the Baron. Both should be intelligent men on a mission. In the book, Feyd is a ruthless diplomat who knows when to play his part. In the movie he's just insane and out to hurt.

The photo is when Sting was preparating for the fighting' scene. ( I love it!)

Filmography – Sting – Brimstone & treacle (1982)
Tom Bates is racked with guilt over causing his daughter, Patricia, to be an invalid (she accidentally ran into an oncoming truck after catching him and his secretary having sex), so he reluctantly invites a young man home to dinner whom he mistakenly believes is his daughter's old school friend.

Mrs. Bates finds their visitor, Martin Taylor( Sting!!lol), quite charming and welcomes the change in the long and arduous work of taking care of their daughter, so she invites him to stay for a few days. Mr. Bates is quite leery of Martin, but in the interest of keeping peace with his wife and trying to keep his guilt in check, he agrees to let him stay.

Martin slowly exploits the Bates' trust as he hatches an evil plot that will change all of their lives.

I saw the movie 2 weeks ago, and of all movies I have seen with Sting, it's the best role to me. According to him, it's the role which is the more proud, and he can be, he play very well!

The last photo that you can see, is taken from an interview he made for the movie!

Filmography – Sting – Quadrophenia (1979)

Filmography – Sting – Quadrophenia (1979)
In 1960s London Jimmy, loathing his dead-end job ("I don't want no dead end job I don't wanna be no number" A Police' song that you can find on "Message in a box") and dead-end parents, lives for his scooter and his Mod mates. August Bank Holiday in Brighton looks like it will be great, with a chance to see his Vespa-riding hero Ace (Sting!!lol), do battle with the Rockers, and maybe get lucky with Steph. Sadly, after the weekend, reality and disappointments crowd in all the more.

I find a trailer of the movie, I didn't see the movie yet! Quadrophenia trailer

Discography – Sting – Sacred Love (September 2003)

Discography – Sting – Sacred Love (September 2003)
Inside
Send Your Love
Whenever I say your name
Dead's man rope
Never Coming Home
Stolen Car
Forget about the future
This war
The book of my life
Sacred Love
Send Your Love (remix)
Shape of my heart (live)

The last solo album (obviously for the moment!), to me it's a special album, because it was at this time that I'm falling in love with his music, and that I saw him in concert! (Yes I'm a recent fan! lol).

Inside: is the wonderful opening track and one of two tracks featuring the drumming of Vinnie Colaiuta.
"It must be that we're afraid of this idea of love. So I began to try and redefine how love was treated in my walk of life. Love is flowers and sunshine and butterflies. So I thought I'd start treating love as if it was a devastating, frightening force... and that was 'Inside'." (Great song!!)

Send Your Love: Opening with a flurry of Flamenco guitar courtesy of Vicente Amigo and castanets from Valerie Denys before breaking into a bassline that just makes you want get up and dance. (Oh yes!!lol)
"Am I religious? In my own way. I say in 'Send Your Love': 'there's no religion but sex and music'. That's a polemic statement. But if you look at it, 'religion' means to reconnect in the Latin. What reconnect us with the world of spirit are two things: sex and music. Generally, this is my church. My idea of a spirit realm is not something outside the cosmos, it is the cosmos."
Our favourite line of this song isn't it Mak ?: p

Whenever I say your name: 'Whenever I Say Your Name' features the sultry voice of Mary J. Blige and is another track that mixes the themes of religion and love recurring throughout the 'Sacred Love' album. On stage the song was a tour de force, featuring the incredible voice of Joy Rose duelling with Sting. (Joy is amazing! I love her!!)
Sting and Mary on Jay Leno show
Excellent live, and I like the modesty of Sting when he say "I'm the commander of the british empire"!!lol, Enjoy!!

Never coming home: is a sad tale of a broken relationship told from the perspective of both parties. The song features a wonderfully jazzy piano solo from Jason Rebello. I love him too!!(Yes I love everybody, what do you want! lol)

Stolen Car: is an archetypal Sting song about a relationship between three people told with a twist, through a fourth party. The track was released as a single in 2004 and several remixes exist. Classic Sting storytelling at its very best, but the video is not very him, you see, even if he's so sexy on.:p Video clip

This war: Written during the build up to the war against Iraq the song asks some searching questions of those that stand to profit from the war. I prefer the live version of this song, with the greatest sound of Dominic'guitar!: p but very good song!

The book of my life: With Sting having written his autobiography, "Broken Music" (excellent book!) it did not come as a surprise to find that the experience also inspired him to write 'The Book of My Life', arguably the most personal song he has ever written.

Sacred Love: This song returns to the recurring themes of love and religion and intertwines them to such a degree that it seems impossible to separate them: "You're my religion, you're my church / you're the holy grail at the end of my search / have I been down on my knees for long enough? / I've been searching the planet to find sacred love". Driven along with some great drums and percussion by Manu Katche (Yeaahh!!) and Rhani the tracks also featuring horn players, Chris Botti and Clark Gayton.
